In 2018 I had the honor of being one of four lawyers selected for the Middle District of Florida Merit Selection Panel and will continue my duties in 2019. Last year we recommended an outstanding person to replace federal Magistrate Judge Karla Spaulding. Our panel will be recommending a successor to United States Magistrate Judge Tom Smith. Magistrate Judge Smith was an accomplished litigator and a Florida Circuit Court Judge. Like Magistrate Judge Spaulding, he will be greatly missed by those who have appeared before him. The announcement for the magistrate judge position is on the MDFL website. Applicants must file by February 15, 2019.
